People speak at 100 to 175 words per minute but they can listen intelligently at 600 to 800 wpm That is why it is easy to go into Mind Drift
The cure is Active Listening Therefore Let us examine the traits of Active Listeners
Is Aware of Biases We all have them & Need to Control them
Never Daydreams or is Preoccupied with his own thoughts while listening to others
Lets the other speaker talkdoes not dominate the conversation
Plans Responses after the Person has finished Speaking Not while they are speaking
Asks Open – Ended Questions Walks the person through the analysis & thus summarizes
Keeps the Conversation on what the speaker says Not on what interests him
Takes Brief Notes Thus forcing himself to concentrate on what is being said
