Waste hierarchy; • Prevention • Preparing for re-use • Recycling • Other recovery (e.g. Energy recovery) • Disposal • Can depart from if achieves best overall environmental outcome
Best overall environmental outcome – consider; • General principles of precaution & sustainability • Technical feasibility & economic viability • Protection of resources • The overall environmental, human health, economic & social impacts
From January 2015 further restrictions introduced requiring, as far as reasonably possible, segregation of; • Paper • Metal • Plastics • Glass • for collection.
