  2. Commissioning DHW HeatingBasic Configuration Steps to be followed when commissioning DHW heating: • Make the basic configuration on the central apartment unit. • Connect the RF components (KNX RF). • Make the wiring test. • If required, configure wire bus communication (KNX TP1). • Set the DHW parameters.

  3. Commissioning DHW HeatingBasic Configuration • To start with the basic configuration, switch to the expert level. • To configure DHW heating, go to the following menu items: • DHW • Inputs

  4. Commissioning DHWBasic Configuration • The following parameters are available: • Main menu > Commissioning > Basic configuration > DHW > … • DHW sensor (input) • DHW pump / valve • Electric immersion heater

  5. Commissioning DHW HeatingBasic Configuration • Operation of external DHW heating is possible only if internal DHW heating has not been configured: • Commissioning > Basic configuration > DHW > Operation external DHW > . . . • “---“ inactive • Yes, without time switch • Yes, with time switch

  13. Commissioning DHW HeatingBasic Configuration • Operating mode contact • Main menu > Commissioning > Inputs > … • Operating mode contact Note: An input function that is not required should be deactivated (“---“ ) to ensure that all function information and operating lines will be hidden. The operating mode contact has an impact on the operating modes of ventilation, space heating and DHW heating.

  14. Commissioning DHW Heating RF Connections When defining the DHW components, menu RF connections shows the DHW function group – analogous to the basic configuration. The relevant devices / channels can now be assigned to the activated DHW function group. Commissioning > RF connections > DHW > …

  15. Commissioning DHW Heating RF Connections • Connecting a device / channel • On the central apartment unit, select Connect deviceat the respective function group (DHW and inputs): • Main menu > Commissioning > RF connections > DHW > … • For DHW, the following functions can be selected: • DHW sensor • DHW pump / valve • Electric immersion heater • Main menu > Commissioning > RF Connections > Inputs > Operating mode contact

  16. Commissioning DHW Heating RF Connections Use the channel selection buttonto select the right channel first. Then, press the function buttonuntil the function LED starts blinking. When releasing the function button on the partner device, the binding process with the central apartment unit is started. The central apartment unit displays “Progress running“. After successful completion of the binding process, a single acoustic signal is given and the display shows “Process finished“. Note:Prior toconnecting devices, check to ensure that the devices have been installed in the right place (check RF communication).

  17. Commissioning DHW Heating RF Connections • Disconnecting a device / channel • The process of disconnecting a device from the central apartment unit is • analogous to Connect device. • Main menu > Commissioning > RF connections > DHW > … > Disconnect device • Main menu > Commissioning > RF connections > Inputs > … > Disconnect device • Another 2 types of disconnection are possible however: • Reset the peripheral device to its default state • Delete the peripheral device from the device list • However, these 2 types of disconnection should be considered in exceptional • cases only.

  18. Commissioning DHW Heating RF Connections Reset the device to its default state To reset a peripheral device to its default state, press the function button for > 20 s => LED flashes. Caution: Only the entire device can be reset to its default state (not an individual channel). Function button

  19. Commissioning DHW Heating RF Connections Deleting a device from the device list Under certain circumstances, a faulty device cannot be disconnected anymore. In that case, the respective device can be removed from the device list. Main menu > Commissioning > Device list > Device x > Delet device Note: Function “Delete device“ should be used only when it cannot be removed by selecting “Disconnect device“.

  20. Commissioning DHW HeatingRF Connections The binded devices / channels can be checked on the device list of the DHW function group under the respective function: Main menu > Commissioning > RF connections > . . . > Device list Function z Function y Function x Device list The device list shows the device no., the product no. (ASN), and the channel no. (required with RRV912 heating circuit controller). Further, when selecting a device / channel, the following information can be displayed:

  21. Commissioning DHW HeatingRF Connections The device list contains all physical devices connected to the central apartment unit via radio control: Main menu > Commissioning > Device list The device list shows the device no., the product no. (ASN) and the device state. • Further, by selecting a device, the following information is displayed: • Device no., product no. (ASN), and KNX-ID • Setting of repeater no. (refer to “RF repeater“ block) • Triggering “Delete device“ (refer to “Delete device“ block)

  22. Commissioning DHW Heating Wiring Test The wiring test is made to check the configured inputs and outputs: Main menu > Commissioning > Wiring test > DHW Main menu > Commissioning > Wiring test > Inputs

  23. Commissioning DHW HeatingExercises Put the following plant into operation by making the configuration and then connecting the respective inputs / outputs to the central apartment unit: The house has a DHW storage tank with charging pump and a storage tank sensor installed. 1. Configure the DHW application as required. Select storage tank sensor and charging pump “Via RF“. 2. Connect the respective inputs / outputs of the RRV912 to the central apartment unit. 3. Check the connected inputs / outputs by making a wiring test.
