  2. RF RepeaterBasics • RF repeaters are used where transmitter and receiver • are too far apart, or where construction materials or • appliances inside the house lead to radio signal • attenuations.General planning rule: • If the radio path exceeds 30 meters or covers • more than 2 concrete ceilings or floors, • an RF repeater should be included right from • the start • In all other types of plant, RF repeaters are not • normally required. Nevertheless, should • radio control range problems occur, a repeater • can also be fitted at a later stage • In case of critical radio links, repeaters should physically be installed between the transmitter and the receiver wherever possible.

  3. RF RepeaterBasics Quantity structure Per system, a maximum of 3 RF repeaters can be operated in parallel. 1) Repeater 1 Repeater 2 Repeater 3 1) Direct link

  4. RF RepeaterBasics Device list For runtime operation, the RF repeaters are to be configured in a way that they only repeat the telegrams from selected devices. For that purpose, each repeater receives “its“ device list from the central apartment unit. During commissioning, the RF repeaters repeat all telegrams. 1) 2) Repeater 1 3) Device list: 4) Repeater 2 5) Repeater 3 6)

  5. RF RepeaterBasics Topology A device can only be assigned to one RF repeater. Repeater 1 Repeater 2 Telegram re-repetition over several repeaters (cascading) is not possible. Repeater 1 Repeater 2

  6. RF RepeaterBasics Topology An RF repeater repeats the following telegrams sent by the central apartment unit: • Individual telegrams sent to a device on the repeater‘s device list [e.g. room setpoint readjustment on room unit (applies only to this device)] • Group telegrams from groups in which at least one device is contained on its device list [e.g. room temperature setpoint (applies to all in a room = group)] • System broadcast telegrams “Central unit to all“ [e.g. manual overriding of valves (applies to all in the apartment = system)]

  7. RF RepeaterMounting Mounting, basic design RF repeater type ERF910 is powered via a power pack. Power packfor AC 230 V Same housing as roomsensor QAA910 Same base as roomsensor QAA910 Cable without plug

  8. RF RepeaterBasic Configuration Procedure • Activate the RF repeater: Main menu >Commissioning > Basic configuration > RF repeater > Repeater x > active • Connect the RF repeater: Main menu >Commissioning > RF connections > RF repeater > RF Repeater x > Connect device • Select from the device list the devices to be repeatedMain menu > Commissioning > Device list > Device x > RF repeater > Repeater x The ERF910 repeater is suited for repeating the telegrams from both Synco 900 and GAMMA wave devices. Hager products require their own Hager repeaters.

  9. RF RepeaterBasic Configuration The ERF910 repeater can also be used for repeating the telegrams from devices that require no functional connection to the central apartment unit. These devices must be connected to the central apartment unit, enabling the RF repeater to obtain its respective device list from the central apartment unit. Main menu > Commissioning > RF connections > RF repeater > Other RF devices > Connect device Handheld transmitter Device list Runtime operation Binding Commissioning

  10. RF RepeaterOperation • Power up: LED is lit green for about 2 s • Non-connected state: LED flashes green • Binded state: • < 2 hours after pressing the multifunction button: • LED flickers orange during telegram traffic • >2 hours after pressing the multifunction button: • No display

  11. RF RepeaterExercises • Bind an RF repeater in your group‘s plant. • Make the necessary settings so that the telegrams from all devices in room 1 will be repeated.
