Significant Safety Achievements- 2/19 • Work Activity EA-0009 “Flammable Refrigerants” for the B60 air conditioning test chambers has been finalized and is now “active”. • I participated in the start-up testing of the new alarm system at the B60 Flammable Refrigerant Test Chambers. • A draft “Researcher Guide for Procurement of Electrical Equipment” has been sent out for comment by the LBNL Electrical Safety Committee. • Responded to the Air Filter/Sodium Permanganate leak at FLEXLAB. • Management safety walkthroughs were completed for EAEI technical areas in B70. • I completed a two—day NFPA 70E electrical safety training class. • Safety Alerts were issued for: • UV Light Safety • Lab Area Chemical Hygiene • Ergonomic Work Station Posture • Slip Trip Fall Prevention Awareness
Short Term Safety Outlook 3/19 • Start the lab area seismic protection self-assessment project. • Start the Lab Area Safety Lead self-assessment survey. The survey questions are ready to go out. • A quarterly Lab Area Safety Lead committee meeting is scheduled for 3/12/19. • Continue efforts at improving the procurement process for NRTL listing of electronic equipment. A draft “Researcher Guide” is out for comment. • Assist with the installation of the Hyet hydrogen compressor system in Building 70-143. • Continue planning for the upcoming ESDR safety stand down event scheduled for 4/10/19. An “old chemical” clean-out is planned. • Complete the remaining few telecommute home office ergonomic assessments. • I will be participating as a judge in the upcoming Contra Costa County Science Fair.
