Notes-What is Citizenship? • Teacher will ask essential question: What is citizenship? • This image will represent that students will need to complete an activity. • Complete a KWLH chart as a class or individually. Only complete the K-what I know portion. • Follow up with: How can you show good citizenship? What can you do to earn a citizenship award? • After a class discussion, complete the W-what I would like to learn portion. • Double click on the left citizenship award for a video about citizenship. • Double click on the right citizenship award for a video about citizenship. • Discuss observations. • Have students also continue to work on L-what I learned of the KWL chart throughout the lesson and write any new ideas/concepts they learned.

It must be completed by the end of slide 6. You may create your own to add all of the five subcategories. • You can have the students either write, illustrate, cut out images from a magazine, or research images on the internet that represent the different ways they can help.

What would happen if people didn’t show acts of good citizenship? • Students will turn to their partner and discuss the reason why or why not each image shows acts of good citizenship. • Students will independently to complete the double bubble map graphic organizer. They will make a judgment whether the images represent good or poor citizenship, glue them in the appropriate section and explain their reasoning underneath each picture.

Hello • Students will work with a partner to complete the planning sheet. This will need to be completed by the end of the lesson so that students can complete their assessment activities. • Students will have 3 assessment activities to choose from. • Use the internet to create this online activity: Biography bio cube about Harriet Tubman. • Biography Poster Report about Harriet Tubman • Create and publish an I AM poem brochure or poster about Harriet Tubman using Microsoft publisher or power point.
