By providing a context for learning, the Academy: Builds motivation, confidence, sense of personal worth Leads students from all backgrounds to success Serves students of all abilities, Connects students to adult role models and mentors How Do Academy Students Benefit?
Fundamentals of Business – Study the rights and responsibilities of a consumer and worker, career opportunities, credit, money management, budgeting, investments, free enterprise and economic systems as they relate to global economy. AOF 1 – Junior year. Introduces students to the broad career opportunities of the financial service industry, creating new options for the future. Emphasis is on insurance, banking, securities, credit, and accounting. Summer Internship – Academy students are offered a unique experience to Intern with a business in the Winston-Salem area during the summer between their junior and senior years. Internships are paid opportunities for credit. While not guaranteed for every student, to date, all eligible students have been placed. AOF 2 – Senior year. Prepares students for post-secondary education and careers through academic learning and hands-on work experience within an industry-themed curriculum with credit through Forsyth Technical Community College. Emphasis is on Financial Planning and International Finance. Course Descriptions
