Objectives of Using Literature • To increase vocabulary and literacy skills • To prepare students for post-secondary education; literature is often used as the major source of information • To apply real world/life events and perspectives to the concepts learned in class • To encourage students to read current literature and question the author’s perspective to create their own viewpoints • To teach students how to use literature as a tool to be life-long learners
