  5. First Stop – Meet my students! • All girls! • Interest Inventory • Learn names • Classroom profile • Free/reduced lunch • Differing races • Ability levels • Physical impairments • Test scores No Boys Allowed! 5

  6. Detour – My Special Student • 10 years old • Never been to school • Scared • Shy • Can’t read, barely can write • Intervention plan • K/1st grade teachers • School psychologist • Ability testing Different Route!

  7. Second Stop – Start taking over! • Ease into teaching full-time • Goals: • Build confidence • Follow academic standards • Improve test scores • Maintain high expectations • Manage the classroom effectively • Try many different instructional strategies You can call me Ms. K!

Fifth Stop – Go above and beyond! • Professional Responsibilities • Faculty meetings • Professional development seminars • Parent/teacher conferences • Field trips • Extracurriculars • Fall Festival (dunk tank, concessions) • 4th and 5th grade dance (chaperone) • Fundraiser basketball “shoot-off” (winner) Be professional and learn!

Snack Time – “Food for Thought” Monitor, assess, and enhance student learning Be patient, compassionate, and determined Do your research and plan ahead Use auditory, visual, and kinesthetic approaches Incorporate technology into your lessons Engage and motivate students at the beginning Add purpose to your preaching Use a variety of instructional strategies Be consistent and explain your expectations Create a safe and nurturing classroom environment Believe in each student and encourage them to succeed Eat it all up!

  14. Snap Shot! Ms. K Written by XxxxXxxx Ms. K is a student teacher at Centerville this school year. She was teaching in Mr. Xxxx’s4th grade class last year. She is a student at Clemson University studying to be a teacher. Ms. K has brown hair and a great sense of style. She enjoys helping Ms. Xxxxteach a 3rd grade all girls class. Hopefully she will be able to teach at Centerville one day because she will make a great teacher. Make a difference! 14
