Let’s just take a moment to think about people who might be “struggling” this Christmas.
People who live in poverty or are homeless often find it hard at Christmas because they might have nowhere to go and they will struggle through all of the cold weather. They might not have the support from their families or friends. They might have a family to care for and be out of work, or finding it hard to put food on the table. How will they celebrate Christmas?
Over the last few weeks we have heard on the news about flooding in the UK as well as other parts of the world being hit by tragedies like floods and earthquakes. How will these people be celebrating at Christmas?
Let us think for a moment about those who work at Christmas. A lot of people have to work hard ,long hours, especially at Christmas time. These people include members of the Forces who maybe spending Christmas a long way from home and their families will be missing them too. The emergency services and hospitals all have people who give up their Christmas to help keep us safe and healthy. Some people maybe too ill to leave hospital. How will they celebrate Christmas?
Like our chocolate sprouts Christmas can be mixed emotions for people. On the other hand, like the chocolate there are good bits! So as you go off for Christmas there will be some things which you might not be looking forward too but we hope (unlike sprouts) the good things will outweigh the bad. Whether you look forward to presents, carols, time with family or Christmas dinner that you will have a fantastic Christmas.
Please watch this Text Santa Music Video that was released at the weekend by the Big Reunion and whilst you are watching, please spare a thought for those less fortunate than ourselves.
Thank you all for watching our Blue Star assembly. We’d like to wish you all a very Happy Christmas!
