  1. Fishing Probability By: Janine Paula Aoalin And Lovely Valerie E. Janairo April 10,2011 Period 4

  2. Board Design

  3. Participants Lovely Valerie Janine Paula

  4. Game Objective • Get to the sea anemone before the other player!!

  5. How To Play

  6. How to Play • Both players roll the dice. The player with the higher number starts first.

  7. How to Play • The 1st player must roll the dice again. Move the fish according to the number of spaces shown on the dice. 3 4 2 5 1 6

  8. How to Play • Pick a card where the block tells you to (Treasure Chest, Dreaded Fishing Basket or Challenge Box). Treasure Chest Dreaded Fishing Challenge Box Basket( DFB )

  9. How to Play • Pick a card where the block tells you to (Treasure Chest, Dreaded Fishing Basket or Challenge Box). Treasure Chest Dreaded Fishing Challenge Box Basket( DFB )

  10. How to Play • Pick a card where the block tells you to (Treasure Chest, Dreaded Fishing Basket or Challenge Box). Treasure Chest Dreaded Fishing Challenge Box Basket( DFB )

  11. How to Play • Answer the probability question. If the answer is correct, move around the board according to the card you answered. If the answer is wrong, move 1 space back. Or Move backward 1 space Move forward 2 spaces

  12. How to Play • Take turns rolling the dice and answering the question. It’s your turn! Oh, okay!

  13. How to Play • Stay out of the fishing baits and sharks.

  14. How to Solve the problems

  15. Coin & Die Q: Maya is about to roll a die and flip a coin. What is the probability that she would get heads and an even number? Step 1 First make/look at the sample space.

  16. Coin & Die Q: Maya is about to roll a die and flip a coin. What is the probability that she would get heads and an even number? Step 2 First make/look at the sample space. Circle the probabilities.

  17. Coin & Die Q: Maya is about to roll a die and flip a coin. What is the probability that she would get heads and an even number? Step 2 First make/look at the sample space. Circle the probabilities.

  18. Coin & Die Q: Maya is about to roll a die and flip a coin. What is the probability that she would get heads and an even number? Step 3 probability = 3 total outcomes 12

  19. Coin & Die Q: Maya is about to roll a die and flip a coin. What is the probability that she would get heads and an even number? Step 4 Reduce the fraction. 3 ÷ 3 = 1 12 3 4

  20. Coin & Die Q: Maya is about to roll a die and flip a coin. What is the probability that she would get heads and an even number? Step 5 3 ÷ 3 = 1 12 3 4 If you need to convert fraction to percent, just divide numerator by the denominator.

  21. Coin & Die Q: Maya is about to roll a die and flip a coin. What is the probability that she would get heads and an even number? Step 5 3 ÷ 3 = 1numerator = 1÷4= 0.25 12 3 4 denominator Then multiply it by 100 or move the decimal point 2 spaces to the right.

  22. Coin & Die Q: Maya is about to roll a die and flip a coin. What is the probability that she would get heads and an even number? Step 5 1÷4= 0.25 0.25 x 100 = 25% or 0.25 = 25%

  23. 2 Dice: Jake is about to roll 2 dice 48 times. How many times should he expect to get a sum of 4? • Step 1 First make/look at the sample space.

  24. 2 Dice: Jake is about to roll 2 dice 48 times. How many times should he expect to get a sum of 4? • Step 2 First make/look at the sample space. Circle all combinations with a sum of 4.

  25. 2 Dice: Jake is about to roll 2 dice 48 times. How many times should he expect to get a sum of 4? • Step 2 First make/look at the sample space. Circle all combinations with a sum of 4.

  26. 2 Dice: Jake is about to roll 2 dice 48 times. How many times should he expect to get a sum of 4? • Step 3 Set up the proportion. 3 = x or 1 = x 36 48 12 48

  27. 2 Dice: Jake is about to roll 2 dice 48 times. How many times should he expect to get a sum of 4? • Step 4 Solve the proportion. First, multiply 48 and 1. 1 = x 12 48

  28. 2 Dice: Jake is about to roll 2 dice 48 times. How many times should he expect to get a sum of 4? • Step 4 Solve the proportion. First, multiply 48 and 1. 1 = x 12 48 48 × 1 = 48

  29. 2 Dice: Jake is about to roll 2 dice 48 times. How many times should he expect to get a sum of 4? • Step 5 Next, divide the product (48) by 12. 1 = x 12 48 48 × 1 = 48 12

  30. 2 Dice: Jake is about to roll 2 dice 48 times. How many times should he expect to get a sum of 4? • Step 5 Next, divide the product (48) by 12. 48 × 1 = 48 = 4 or 4 12 1

  31. 2 Dice: Jake is about to roll 2 dice 48 times. How many times should he expect to get a sum of 4? • Step 5 48 × 1 = 48 = 4 or 4 12 1 Jake should expect to get a sum of 4, 4 times.

  32. Fishing Probability is a good game to learn the difference between theoretical and experimental probability because in this game, players are able to solve both kinds of probability. If a question is about theoretical probability, it is based on the sample space. You are just counting what you are expecting to get. Experimental probability however, is based on the experimental result or what you got when you tested it out.

  33. Participants Lovely Valerie • Made the board. • Pasted most of the clip arts • Create design, rule, and title of game • Made 11 questions • Cut out most of the clip arts • Took a picture of the board Janine Paula • Printed out clip arts and helped cut out some. • Create design, rule, and title of game. • Made Power point • Made 11 questions • Helped paste some clip arts
