Ethics • Fundamental Canons of the NSPE Code of Ethics for Engineers: • Hold paramount the safety, health, and welfare of the public. • Perform services only in the areas of their competence. • Issue public statements only in an objective and truthful manner. • Act for each employer or client as faithful agents or trustees. • Avoid deceptive acts. • Conduct themselves honorably, responsibly, ethically, and lawfully so as to enhance the honor, reputation, and usefulness of the profession.
Professionalism • A professional: • Has high academic standards • Serves the community • Continually renews knowledge • Uses good judgment • Is dedicated beyond personal considerations • Professionalism is displaying the attributes of a professional in society and in work.

Entrance to major • Requirements to Move to an Engineering Discipline Major: • MUST have a Freshman Core GPA > 2.25 • ENGR 101 • ENGR 102 • ENGR 199 • MATH 155 • CHEM 115 • ENGL 101 • MUST have a cumulative GPA > 2.25
Transfer Out • A student may transfer out of the Statler College by talking to his/her advisor and completing a request form. • A student may also be transferred out of the Statler College for unsatisfactory academic performance or progress. Students WILL be transferred out of the Statler College if they: • Earn D/F two times in any math course, Calculus 1, and below (includes earning D/F in two different math courses) • Have a cumulative GPA < 2.0 (probation) two semesters in a row (eligible for suspension) • Fail to move to an engineering discipline major within four semesters (or five semesters for students who start with Math Workshop their first semester) • Students who are transferred out of the Statler College may be readmitted when they have completed the requirements to transfer directly into a discipline major.
