  9. ELEPHANTS The elephant is the biggest land mammal. It is gray and has tusks made of ivory and a trunk. It lives in Africa and Asia. It eats grass, bamboo shoots and fruits. It lives in herds (females and young babies). But when the male is an adolescent, he separates from his family and lives alone. Poachers kill the elephants because they just want their tusks and later on sell them. So please, stop buying items made from tusks.
