  2. Welcome to English! • Please visit our offices in Heath Academic Center! • English Mentorship Teas occur at least twice a year to support student advising, mentorship, and good fellowship among majors & faculty.

  8. Faculty Advising Assignments • Find your Faculty Advisor on the advisor/advisee list. • Introduce yourself. • Find your Faculty Advisor’s office on the second floor of Heath (go up the elevator or the stairs outside) • Visit your Faculty Advisor during office hours.

English Mentorships • You’ll receive information by e-mail & campus box. • Exchange e-mail, phone, and campus box information. • Plan three activities this semester. • Possible activities: • Praying together • Attending chapel together • Attending a Student Life-sponsored event together • Studying together • Meeting before Advising Week to review course registration

ENGL 451 Writing Internship • Optional elective • Intern in a professional setting for 3 units • Repeatable up to 6 units • Gain valuable experience in publishing/writing world • Build your curriculum vitae • Visit the Career Center (2nd Floor, Scott Academic Center) for available internships!

  11. English Honor Society: Sigma Tau Delta • What is it? A society of English majors. • What do we do? Book Clubs, community tutoring, fellowshipping activities, anything literary • Who can join? ENGLISH MAJORS • What are the requirements? 3.4 GPA • What is the membership fee? $57 – includes life membership, fancy pin, “red satin stole,” and free subscription to society journal • Members can compete for several $1,000 to $4,000 scholarships and awards. • Members can submit papers for presentation at the annual spring Sigma Tau Delta International Convention. • Members can submit papers for publication in The Sigma Tau Delta Rectangle and The Sigma Tau Delta Review. • Questions?   16. Ten-Minute Playwriting Festival • Submit a Ten-Minute Play in the Spring Semester • Selected plays will be performed in the Lyceum!
