Hardware and software2 • What’s a hardware? • Part of a computer with physical structures • Monitor, keyboard, motherboard, etc • What’s a software? • Tells hardware what to do • Microsoft Office, web browsers, computer games, etc
Desktop and laptop computers2 • What is a desktop computer? • A computer placed on a desk • Includes a monitor, PC, keyboard, mouse (not connected) • What is a laptop computer? • A portable computer • Includes everything a DC has but just put together
Servers2 • Serves information for other computers • For example: • Facebook has servers to store information • Google and Youtube also does
Mobile phones2 • Nowadays, more applications • Internet • Playing games • These are called smartphones
Game consoles2 • Specifically used to play video games • Some also allows internet connection • Multiplayer • For example, XBOX 360, Nintendo DS, PS3

The cloud2 • What is a cloud? • The Internet • Specifically- anything you access on the web • What happens when you store info on the cloud? • Stored on servers

Setting your computers up2 • Nothing needed for laptops • Desktop computer parts- • Monitor, Keyboard, Mouse, Computer Case, (printer) • Connect all the hardware ports • Plug power supply cables into the surge protector • Plug your adaptor into your socket
