  1. Les ciutats medievals estaven emmurallades, els carrers eren estrets i bruts.

  2. El centre de la ciutat era la plaça major, al voltant de la qual s’hi situaven els edificis més importants (ajuntament, catedral, palaus).

  3. A la plaça s’hi celebrava el mercat, on els pagesos venien aliments i matèries primeres, i els artesans venien productes manufacturats.
