Mission Statement THE CITY OF DAYTON PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT STRIVES TO BE A CUSTOMER SERVICE DRIVEN, GOAL MOTIVATED, ACTION ORIENTED OPERATION THAT PROVIDES ESSENTIAL PUBLIC SERVICES PROMTLY, EFFICIENTLY AND EFFECTIVELY.
Budget Highlights – Public Works • Operating Supplies: Increase by $5,000 based on current projections for 2019 • PW Repair and Maintenance: Increase by $5,000 based on current projections for 2019 • PW Street Light Electric/Maintenance: Increased by $4,000 for additional street lights and additional maintenance • PW Electric Utilities: Increased by $2,000 based on 2019 usage • PW Gas Utilities: Increased by $3,000 based on current billing and anticipating a higher bill in December 2019 • PW Rentals: Reduced by $3,000 • PW Building & Structures: Reduced by $2,000
Budget Highlights – Parks • Parks Weed Control: Increased $1,000 due to more areas requiring weed spraying including streets/sidewalks • Stephens Park Property: Reduced by $2,500
2018-2019 Achievements • Water Quality Improvements • Starting construction on Activity Center upgrades • Hired 1 member to our staff • Re-roof City Hall • HVAC City Hall • Identify Phase 1 projects for Stephens Park • Disc Golf Course installed • Sue McLean Picnic Pavilion • Pump Replacement – Well House 2 • Build out of GIS data • Replaced boards on ice rink at Central Park • New Well in Old Village, on line
2020 Goals • River Hills Park Construction • Sundance Park Completion • Complete Phase 1 projects at Stephens Park • City Signage roll out • McNeil field add shelter and convert garage to incorporate concession stand and reside • Define Department structure • Add additional staff members (Full-Time Engineering Tech and Part-Time Parks)
Public Works Capital Equipment Fund 401 • 2026 – Wood Chipper • 2026 – Mini Excavator • 2027 – Tar Box for hook and box truck • 2029 – Roll off box for hook and box truck • 2020 – Skid Steer Attachments Broom, Snow Bucket (Mill for Black Top Patching) • 2022 – Bucket Truck – Brought forward 1 year • 2023 – Single Axle hook and box truck with plow (moved out 1 year increased from $240,000 to $270,000 • 2024 – Snow blower for Front End Loader
Parks Development/Dedication Fund 404 • 2020 – Reside shed at McNeil Park with alterations to make a Concession Stand serving window • 2020 – Concession Stand Shelter • 2021 – Shelter at Stephens Park Fund 405 • 2020 – Complete Sundance Woods Park • 2020 – River Hills Development • 2020 – Stephens Park Phase 1 Improvements
