3. Benefits of Concurrent Enrollment • It’s Free!High School Students attending part-time at CSM are not required to pay Enrollment Fees. • High school students get an “early start” on your college experience. • Receive College Credit for course work completed. • When permitted, it is also possible to receive high school credit.

4. Who should consider Concurrent Enrollment? The program is open to all high school students with: • Approval from parents or guardians • Approval from high school counselor (or Principal or designee) • Program also open at Cañada College & Skyline College (SMCCD)

5. Why Concurrent Enrollment? • To gain a competitive advantage for university admission • To earn college units early so as to increase the chances of earning a college degree on time! • Save money on future college costs. • One year versus one semester.  

6. Who should consider Concurrent Enrollment? • College courses are demanding. • Instruction at a College level. • It is recommended that high school students have at least a 2.0 GPA (10th grade 2.5, and 9th grade 3.0) • Demonstrate readiness for the academic challenge ahead. • Discuss readiness with HS Counselor

7. Other Fees & Text Books High school students enrolled in 11 units or less: • not required to pay the Enrollment Fee or Health Fee(some courses may require payment of a materials fee- see course description in class schedule). • expected to purchase their own text book(s) as recommended, or required for their college classes.   • Used Books (Optional) • csm bookstore • chegg • amazon • abe used books

Concurrent Enrollment Status • Apply online • http://collegeofsanmateo.edu/apply • Completed and submittedCollege Connection Concurrent Enrollment Course Request Form: must be uploaded to websmart account • Satisfy Course Prerequisites Registration Block– Placement test will be required mainly in the area of Math & English • Register for classes on WebSMART • https://websmart.smccd.edu

11. Assessment Center • Go online to https://websmart.smccd.eduto make an appointment • College Student ID Number - G# • Photo ID • Calculator for math test will be provided • ADD CONCURRENT FORM HERE!!!!!

12. Concurrent Enrollment Status… • Adding classes (Only add pre-approved courses) • Authorization Code - from instructor will be needed when adding a class after the semester has begun. • Register for classes on websmart • https://websmart.smccd.edu

13. Log on to your WebSmart Account • At https://websmart.smccd.edu • Use your student ID # G01------ • Your birth date is your password - two digits each for month, day & year • Once logged in, click on “Student Services” and then click on Your Class Schedule Summary.” • Select a term: select Spring 2019 Term and then click on submit.

The First Class • Never miss the first class • Instructors may drop you • Be on time with good conduct • (Arriving late is the same as missing class) • Be prepared (College Ready) • Review and/or purchase the necessary book • Review the syllabus • Make Connections • Exchange contact info. with a classmate • Attendance –If you miss 3 or more classes you will be dropped or will receive an F

16. Parking Permits and Designated Parking Areas • Daily parking permit$3.00 per day available in student lots • Grace Period (First week in same lots as above). • Purchase online on the third floor and pick up at Cashier’s Office (3rdFlr., Bldg 10) $27 for Summer Semester 2020 and $60 for Fall 2019/Spring 2020 Semester.

18. College Grades • All college level coursework for which grades are issued, whether passing or failing, will become part of the students permanent academic college record. • College transcripts will be required when applying to four year institutions • In order to avoid permanent deficient grades, students should be aware of drop deadlines.

19. How do I receive my grades? • Final grades are not mailed upon completion of the semester. • Students can use WebSMART to view final grades and request official transcripts (Summer final grades available in August).

20. How do I receive High School Credit? • An official transcript will need to be sent directly to the high school if any credits have been approved and are to be used toward high school graduation. • The student must request the transcript through https://websmart.smccd.edu

21. Your Concurrent Enrollment experience begins your college record Most universities will accept transferable or bachelors level courses taken at Community Colleges to count toward the students bachelors degree.
