  1. IPMU, 19 March 2012 Electrical QA Markus Friedl (HEPHY Vienna)

  2. Readout Chain Overview • Analog APV25 readout is through copper cable to FADCs • Junction box provides LV to front-end Finesse Transmitter Board (FTB) FADC+PROC 1748APV25chips ~2mcoppercable Junctionbox ~10mcopper cable Unified opticaldata link (>20m) COPPER Front-endhybrids Rad-hardDC/DC converters Analog level translation, datasparsificationandhit time reconstruction Unified Belle IIDAQ system M.Friedl (HEPHY Vienna): Electrical QA

  3. Layer 6 Origami Ladder • 5 DSSD sensors (4 rect + 1 slanted), 10 hybridsin total • 6 hybrids (=connectors) read out in BW, 4 read out in FW M.Friedl (HEPHY Vienna): Electrical QA

  4. Testing • Option A: read out one sensor at a time • APVDAQ: Needs 3 VME modules + repeatersOne set reads 4 APVs: 2 needed for p-side (6 APVs) with special cable (we can provide it) and one for n-side (4 APVs) • Option B: read out full ladder at once • Reading out full ladder would require 15 APVDAQ sets • Alternative: use subset of final system (“1/20 system”) • Enough to read out full ladder at once M.Friedl (HEPHY Vienna): Electrical QA

  5. Ladder Test • Option A • APVDAQ – 4 APV input channels • Needs 3 sets to read out one DSSD with special adapter cable M.Friedl (HEPHY Vienna): Electrical QA

  6. Ladder Test • Option B • Subset of Belle II SVD • 1/20 test system would be sufficient • Requires 9UVME crate M.Friedl (HEPHY Vienna): Electrical QA

  7. Ladder Test • Option B • Exactly what we have as a prototype system since 2007 • Has been used in several beam tests • New system (with junction box instead of repeaters) is now being designed M.Friedl (HEPHY Vienna): Electrical QA

  8. Additional Infrastructure • Test box • Closed box (light tight) with x/y stage and beta source (90Sr) • Can scan all sensors • Fully automatic operation (overnight) • Laser not recommendedas it cannot reach stripsunderneath ribs • Software • To be adapted for testsand scanning M.Friedl (HEPHY Vienna): Electrical QA
