SG Terms of Reference • New functions in VDL2 in accordance with AEEC 631-5 • Multiple frequency operations (autotune) • Frequency support list • Fix any deficiencies of 631-5+errata • Resolve references to Obsolete ISO stds • ISO13239 replaced ISO4335/3309/7809/8885 in 2002 • Revise • ICAO VDL 2 Tech Manual • ED-92 and DO-281A (MOPS) • DO-224B (MASPS)

  4. Updates in 631-5 • Updated autotune procedures • Coverage of all failure modes • Added Freq Support List (FSL)-based dual-frequency operations • FSL is XID parameter contained in GSIF broadcast • Lists ground stations in area • Utilize A/G bit in control field of VDL2 to determine if air or ground • FSL contains either air frequencies or ground frequencies • Aircraft uses Weight-on-wheels indications to switch frequencies

  5. ICAO ACP Status • Doc 9776 • Amendment Proposals to update to compliance with 631-5 have been submitted and accepted by WG-M • Approval pending validation of new functionality

  6. MASPS Work Needed • Review Doc9776 APs for applicability to MASPS update • Filter out APs related to make Doc9776 with MASPS • Update references to obsolete ISO HDLC stds

  7. MOPS Work Needed • Develop Test Procedures for new Autotune procedures • Develop Test Procedures for FSL-based frequency handoff • Update traceability table • Possibly define new equipment classes for VDR that can tune below 118 MHz
