How it Will Work • Measures- items that receive grades • Like Math, Science, ELA for students; districts will be graded on: • Achievement • Academic Progress (Growth/Value added) • Closing Achievement Gaps- Annual Measureable Objectives (Racial & Demographic Groups) • Graduation Rates Nine graded measures in 2013- Performance Index, Performance Indicators, AMO’s (AYP), Graduation Rate (4 Years & 5 Years), Value Added (Overall, Gifted, SWD, Lowest Quintile)
How it Will Work • Components- Each Measure is a part of a Component. A Component includes all of the measures that are related in a common category. • Example- English includes reading, writing, etc. Beginning in 2014-15, schools and districts will receive a grade for each of the six graded Components- Achievement, Gap Closing, Graduation Rate, K-3 Literacy, Prepared for Success, Progress
How it Will Work • Each school and district will receive an overall grade that is calculated based upon the grades received for the six components. This will begin for the 2014-2015 school year.
Report Card Phase-In • August 2013 –Grades for Measures only • August 2014 –K-3 Literacy Progress Measure –College and Career Measures • August 2015 –Grades for six component groupings –Overall composite grade

Gap Closing Component AMO – Replaces Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP)
Literacy Component • Supports the Third Grade Reading Guarantee legislation • Acknowledges the progress being made by districts in reducing the number of students not on track in reading and numbers of students not proficient by the end of third grade. • Highlights effectiveness of interventions and supports provided to students.
Prepared for Success Component Measures • College Admission Test • Percent taking • Percent remediation free • Dual Enrollment Credit • Number of students earning three college credits • Industry Credentials • Percent of students receiving
Prepared for Success Component Measures • Honors Diploma • Percent who attain • Advanced Placement (AP) • Percent participating • Percent with score of 3 or above • International Baccalaureate (IB) • Percent participating • Percent with a score of 4 or better
Prepared for Success Component Measures • College-and career-ready assessment • Results of this assessment provided for district and/or building • Will either begin on the August 2014 or 2015 report card, depending on the RFP/budget • May be part of Prepared for Success Component grade
Safe Harbor (A) Not later than March 31, 2013, the State Board of Education shall submit to the General Assembly in accordance with section 101.68 of the Revised Code recommendations to create a one-year safe harbor for districts and schools for the first year that the assessments developed by the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) are administered in this state as achievement assessments under section 3301.0710 or 3301.0712 of the Revised Code, or in replacement of those assessments.
