  4. A Culture of Philanthropy A Culture of Philanthropy should encourage: • Everyone working toward the same mission • Shared commitment to purpose • Interrelated parts • Donor Centric

  5. Donor Centric Fundraising Inspires donors to remain loyal longer and give more generously. It focuses on the things that make fundraising profitable; and it comes from donors themselves. • Receiving prompt and meaningful acknowledgement whenever a gift is made • If possible having the gift assigned to a specific program, project or initiative more narrow in scope than the mission of the not-for-profit; • Receiving a report, in measurable terms, on what was accomplished with the last gift before being asked for another.

  6. Board Involvement • They are one of the faces of the organization • Annual monetary contribution • Cultivate relationships with supporters • Participate in Fundraising

  7. 10 Ways To Help Your Board Help Fundraise • Let them know BEFORE they join the Board ALL expectations • Explain how fundraising relates to the mission • Have basic fundraising training at least once a year • Have successful Board members share their experiences • Have handouts at each Board meeting about fundraising to match the “Mission Moment” • Provide information on prospective donors • E-mail, call or write donors just to say thanks • Set up meetings with prospective donor • Host an informal gathering • Recruit in-kind services
