Admissions Essay • Engage the reader, be original! • Be genuine! • Don’t repeat all your activities • Check your privilege • Show, don’t tell Choose a specific instance from your life that you can use to describe yourself and what you have learned. • Proofread, proofread, proofread! • Get several pairs of eyes for editing
Letters of Recommendation • Make sure you know which colleges require a letter • Make requests through Naviance • Give teachers some talking points re: your time in their class • Don’t ask for more letters than you need • Remember to give your teacher and college counselor 3 weeks notice and say thank you! • Parents: please complete the parent surveys!
