Manager Meeting Overview The goals for tonight’s meeting… Distribute materials and $$ necessary for the upcoming ERU soccer season; Meet the board members & briefly discuss their roles; Meet the Professional Coaches hired by ERU BOD; Walk through the ERU manager’s typical responsibilities; Review role of a manager within and beyond the ERU.
ERU Board Members, Coaching Companies, and Staff The ERU Board is made up of the following members: President: Matt Maraffi Vice President: Girls Registrar: Matt Maraffi Girls Travel Director: Darsi Baer Boys Registrar: Matt Maraffi Boys Travel Director: Darsi Baer Treasurer: Chris Gomolak Secretary:Liz Pelzar Board Member: Darsi Baer Board Member: Elise Spinelli Board Member: Michael Bensh Board Member: Sharon Young The ERU Coaching Administrators are: The ERU support staff include: Field Coordinator/Referee Assignor: Tammy Winstanley Club Administrator: Paul Winstanley Girls: Neil Phillips, Soccer Pride Boys: Paul Winstanley, Elite Team Development The Board meets monthly, on the second Monday of each month, @ 7:30pm at JBHS. These meetings are open to all ERU members. Please consider attending!
Manager’s Checklist Important tasks Key Contacts Pre season • Registrations, Rosters, and Passes • Make sure you have passes for all registered players, coaches and managers and a copy of the certified roster and medical forms per player (on website) • Make sure new players have uniforms ordered and number assignments ERU Registrar: Boys and Girls - Matt Maraffi • Practice times and game field assignments (*newly amended March 2014) • Coordinate practice schedule with Travel Director and Coaching Administrator • Communicate with parents the logistics of practice sessions & schedules when posted in a timely manner • Survey other school activities for potential conflicts • Seek travel director’s guidance for unresolvable scheduling conflicts Field Coordinator Easton/Redding - Paul Winstanley Travel Director Boys and Girls – Darsi Baer • Coordinate league game time and locations • Utilize password for league website (www.swdcjsa.org) to access game schedule • Home games - Request fields, times & refs for all home games from Field Coordinator; communicate to opponent’s manager time and field location • Away games – once you receive away game details, confirm coach availability & schedule ASAP. MANAGERS MUST CONTACT OTHER ERU TEAMS W/SAME COACH • Communicate game day changes; notify coach, parents, ref coordinator, and opponent manager immediately (e.g. field closure, other game day changes) Field Coordinators/Referee Assignor Paul Winstanley/Tammy Winstanley Travel Director Boys and Girls – Darsi Baer • Additional game scheduling • Beyond league games, you may schedule make-up games, CT Cup games, & tourneys ERU Patches (tournaments) Club Administrator: P. Winstanley • Confirm coach availability prior to scheduling any additional games. • Note that coaches are contracted for one tournament per season, but registration fees are not covered by ERU. (Collect fees per player on tournament roster. • Communicate practice and game preparations • Become familiar with ERU website for practice/game scheduling (www.erunited.org) • Encourage parents to access website directly for updates and Club events • Remind parents to take inventory of necessary equipment prior to the season: two jerseys, socks, cleats, shin guards, water bottles, bag, appropriate-sized ball etc. Travel Director Boys and Girls – Darsi Baer Soccer and Rugby Team Sales: Michelle Elgert (203) 254-1979 • Arrange Coach/Parent preseason meeting • Coordinate with your coach an appropriate time for a brief 15 min. parent meeting Team Coach/Team Manager
Manager’s Checklist (continued) Important tasks Key Contacts Intra season • Game day requirement • Pre game: • Remind parents the required equipment needed on game day : both jerseys, socks, cleats, shin guards, water, etc. • Make sure you have the following items with you on game day: • Player, manager, and coaches passes key-ring helpful) • Official CJSA current team roster (make copies from registrar –one per game) • CASH for referees (pay by half time) • Referee reimbursement document (Signatures and Ref# ) • Complete medical kit (as provided by ERU) • Medical forms (binder/folder) • Goalie jersey(s) and gloves • Game ball (ERU/coach provided) • Post-game: • Enter the score of home games on the swdcjsa website within 48 hours • Additional suggestions: • Organize all forms/paperwork and passes in a binder • Keep the binder and equipment in a duffle bag • Organize/separate referee payments into weekly envelopes ERU Registrar: Matt Maraffi Treasurer Chris Gomolak Travel Director Boys and Girls – Darsi Baer Field Coordinators/Referee Assignor Fields- Paul Winstanley Ref Assignor- Tammy Winstanley Postseason • Return all club reimbursement forms for any additional money spent • to the Club Treasurer prior to season’s end • Return referee reimbursement signatures to Treasurer promptly • Assist scheduling of 15 min coach/parent feedback session per parent request • Encourage parents to complete feedback survey • Communicate try out dates for next season and off-season sessions
Role as ERU Manager • Management and Communication • Organize the logistics of your individual teams and communicate changes in a timely fashion • Open communication with coaches, travel directors, board members, and/or other managers to help facilitate cohesion within our club programs • Check-in frequently with the Travel Director to convey team progress, seek assistance with parent/player issues, coaching concerns, etc. • Active participation beyond • your team… • Be a positive advocate for ERU in your community • Proactively share ideas with coaches, Board members, and/or attend board monthly meetings. Be a voice!
