Current R&D status of DI-BSCCO wires • Critical Current, Ic • The highest, Ic, for the short R&D wire has recently achieved 250 A (@ 77K, s.f). • Critical Current Density, Jc • The highest critical current density, Jc, reached 7.7 x 104 A/cm2, • corresponding to 600 A/cm-width. 3 3

Conclusions DI-BSCCO wires have steadily been improved. Highest Ic of 250 A at 77K was achieved. The better Ic leads the higher performance of coils or magnets. Higher speed excitation and quench-less operation are needed for industrial applications. DI-BSCCO magnet for B-H curve tracer was successfully designed and manufactured, and proved to have good performance such as high speed excitations and quench-less operations. 9

Yokohama HTS Cable Project - Schedule • Start of the long term test will be delayed for 1 year due to the influence of the east Japan great earthquake on 11th March. • We are considering to extend the project term for 1 year to complete the project’s target. 19
