    2. EL HOMBRE Y EL MEDIO AMBIENTE El hombre comparte con otros seres vivos el espacio vital de la tierra. El no es el dueño absoluto de la naturaleza y debe respetarla. La naturaleza ha pasado de ser considerada por el hombre como una amenaza de la que defenderse a algo amenazado por él y que debe defender de sus propias actuaciones. Todos los seres vivos consumen energía de su entorno para su subsistencia. El hombre además consume energía para otras muchas necesidades ligadas a su bienestar. A medida que aumenta el progreso cultural de una población aumenta su consumo de energía por persona. A mayor consumo de energía mayor es su impacto en el medio ambiente.
