Sovereignty means God’s will overrides all circumstances, revealing His goodness in the worst of all agonies, even the death of Christ.
As a runner depletes physical energy through the loss of water and needs re-filling, so a Christian who expends spiritual energy needs revitalizing absorption of the Holy Spirit.
What the soul is in our body, the Holy Spirit is in the body of Christ, which is the church. (Augustine)
The New Testament church had minute, intellectual knowledge of the Holy Spirit, but a mighty, experiential knowledge of the Holy Spirit. Conversely, today’s church has a considerable knowledge of the Holy Spirit, but a minuscule experience of the Holy Spirit.
Many are not desperate for the Holy Spirit because they don’t believe they need Him.
“Be filled with the Spirit.” (Ephesians 5:18)
