  1. “Be Imitators of God”Ephesians 5:1-21 To “imitate” is to follow the example of another. Imitator comes from the word to “Mimic”. The key to being imitators of God is found in the phrase “as dear children.” March 20, 2013

  2. 1. Those Who are Imitators of God – Walk in Love (v1-7) • Three characteristics of love: • Love forgives. (4:32, 5:1) • Love follows the example. (5:2) • Love is pure. (5:3-7)

  3. 2. Those Who are Imitators of God – Walk in the Light (v8-14) • When we walk in the light we are: • Fruitful. (v9) • Find the will of God. (v10) • Fellowship with light. (v11-12) • Freedom. (v13-14)

  4. 3. Those Who are Imitators of God – Walk in Wisdom (v15-21) • To walk in wisdom is to: • Walk skillfully. (v15) • Redeem the time. (v15-17) The devil’s biggest lie: There is plenty of time.

  5. Be Filled With the Spirit • The inward result. (v19) • The upward result. (v20) • The outward result. (v21)

  6. Conclusion We must aspire to be like the Apostle Paul. “Therefore, I urge you, imitate Me”. 1 Cor 4:16 “Imitate Me, just as I also imitate Christ”. 1 Cor 11:1 We all should be an example worth following.
