What is INECE? • Global network dedicated to improving compliance with environmental laws at national, regional and int’l levels. • Government officials, IGO (e.g EC,UNEP, OECD, World Bank) and NGO partners. • Hazardous Waste, Enforcement Indicators, Inspectors, Public Access to Information, Ozone, Pesticides, Wildlife, and Water.

  4. Goals of INECE Raising awareness to the importance of environmental compliance and enforcement Strengthening capacity for compliance and enforcement through training and issue analysis Developing regional and topic-specific networks for enforcement cooperation

New Initiatives • Hazardous Waste and Ozone Depleting Substances Cooperation Projects • Developing synergies with IMPEL-TFS Project and the Green Customs Initiative on movement through ports • Transboundary Trade in Illegal Timber • Workshop in Bangkok, Thailand, October 2004, resulted in new strategies and cooperation among South East Asian countries • Judicial Remedies and Penalty Policies • Training Course: Compliance and Enforcement Principles for Water Law and Governance
