Establishing A Vision for our Data ElinFranzen and Cat Bosmeny
Currently, what data are we looking at? • CSAP data (only have 1 year of data) • MAPs data (2-3x a year) • CELA data • Attendance Rate • Student Pass rate of classes
How does the data we have help us? • CSAP data (only have 1 year of data) • State mandated – identifies how we compare to other schools. Delay in data until next school year. • MAPs data (2-3x a year) • CSAP predictor, identifies which standards our students are strong in/struggle with • CELA data • Data on English language learners? • Attendance Rate • Disheartening • Student Pass rate of classes • Identifies supportive/nonsupportive classes or easy/hard teachers
What data do we need to prove to others we are successful? • Teacher Level: • Departmental Level: • School-wide Level:
Curriculum and Instruction Data Team • Will Crookston • Andy Morris • Jil Washburn • Roland Blasini • Cat Bosmeny • Herbert Lynch • Buddy George • Gregg Heid
How can the Curriculum & Instruction Data Team support us? • Support each department in identifying how they want to track data • Establish monthly department meetings to dissect data • Review data • Share results (successes/best practices)
Monthly Department Data Meetings • Pick 2 specific content related areas (standards) to examine. • Reflect on teacher actions and student actions to identify best practices/plans to improve • Follow up with action plans after meeting is over
Data Meetings: Do and Don’ts • DO be respectful – Sometimes data feels personal! • DO identify teacher names when appropriate • DO be open and honest when sharing own data • DO be data driven when making decisions • DO take ownership of the data • DO come prepared with appropriate data • DON’T allow this meeting to be pointless!
