Martha’s GREAT Faith! • John 11:21 – “Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died.” • 22 – “I knowthat whatever You ask of God, God will give You.” • 24 – “I knowthat he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.” • 27 – “Yes, Lord, I believethat You are the Christ, the Son of God, ....”

  3. Spiritual & Physical • John 11:25-26 – Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection & the life [spiritual] He who believes in Me, though he may die [physically], he shall live [spiritually]. 26 And whoever lives [physically] & believes in Me shall never die [spiritually].

  4. Physical Death & Life • Physical death occurs when the spirit leaves the body (Jas 2:26). • Physical life occurs when the spirit inhabits the body (Ecc 12:7; Zech 12:1).

  5. Spiritual Death • Spiritual death occurs when the spirit leaves the presence & fellowship of God. • Gen 2:16-17; Eph 4:17-19; Isaiah 59:1-2; cf. Ezek 18:20; Rom 6:23; Jas 1:14-15

  6. Spiritual Life • Spiritual life occurswhen the spirit is united with God, the source of all life, in a common bond of fellowship. • 1 John 1:7-9

  7. Spiritual Life • John 11:25-26 – Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection & the life [spiritual] He who believes in Me, though he may die [physically], he shall live [spiritually]. 26 And whoever lives [physically] & believes in Me shall never die [spiritually].

  8. A Living Death • 1 Tim 5:6 (widows) – But she who livesin pleasure is dead [spiritually] while she lives. [physically] • Unforgiven: Mark 11:25-26 • Condemnation: John 5:28-29; 2 Thess 1:7-10; Mark 9:43-44; Rev 20:11-21:8

  9. Spiritual Life • John 11:25-26 – Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection & the life [spiritual] He who believes in Me, though he may die [physically], he shall live [spiritually]. 26 And whoever lives [physically] & believes in Me shall never die [spiritually].

  10. Jesus: Source of Life • Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth & the life”! (John 14:6) • John 10:10-11; John 20:30-31; Gal 2:20; John 4:13-14; John 6:63; 1 John 5:11-12; Rev 21:6-7; Rev 22:1, 17 • Born again: John 3:5; 1 Pet 1:22-26 • Sins forgiven: Col 2:12-13; cf. 1:14; Rom 6:3-11 • Book of Life: Phil 4:3; Luke 10:20; Rev 20:15

  11. Jesus Proved He Is Life! • Jesus proved in the physicalrealm what He is in the spiritual realm • “Bread of life” (John 6:35) • “Light of the world” (John 9:5) • “Lazarus, come forth” (John 11:43-44). • “Destroy this temple, & in three days I will raise it up” (John 2:18-19).

  12. What This Means To Us • We can GRIEVE in hope, when a faithful Christian dies (1 Thess 4:14, 16-17). • We can face DEATH with hope, when our time comes (Heb 6:13-20). • We can face LIFE with hope (Phil 4:5; 1 Pet 3:12; 1 Pet 1:3-4; John 10:10; Heb 8:1-2; 1 Tim 2:5; 1 John 2:1; Rom 8:34). • Through flesh, • Jesus became like us; that we through faith, might become like Him! • THAT’S SPIRITUALLIFE!

  13. “Do You Believe This?” • John 11:21 – Now Martha said to Jesus, “Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died” • John 11:32 – When Mary came where Jesus was, & saw Him, she fell down at His feet, saying to Him, “Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died.”

  14. “Do You Believe This?” • Luke 7:6, 7, 9 –The centurion sent friends to Him, saying to Him, “Lord, do not trouble Yourself, for I am not worthy that You should enter under my roof. 7 Therefore I did not even think myself worthy to come to You. But say the word, and my servant will be healed …9 When Jesus heard these things, He marveled at him, & turned around & said to the crowd that followed Him, “I say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel!”

  15. “Do You Believe This?” • Jesus is ABLE to rule the universe from Heaven. • Matt 28:18; Eph 1:20-23; 1 Pet 1:22 • Jesus is ABLE grant spiritual life from Heaven to those who obey Him. • John 11:25-26; Heb 5:9; Mark 16:16

Jesus is alsothe resurrection! • Col 3:1-4 – If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. 2 Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. 3 For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ who is ourlifeappears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.

  17. Gospel Plan of Salvation • Believe Jesus to be Lord & Christ: Son of God John 8:23-24; 20:30-31; Mark 16:16; Rom 1:16; 10:9-10; Heb 11:6 • Repent or turn from your sins Luke 24:46-47; Acts 2:38; 3:19; 17:30-31 • Confess your faith in Christ Matt 10:32-33; Acts 8:36-38; Rom 10:9-10 • Be immersed in water Matt 28:19; Mk 16:16; Acts 2:38; Rom 6:3-4; 1 Pet 3:21 • Live in obedient faith to the Lord Heb 5:8-9; 1 Peter 1:14; Rev 2:10
