  1. Homeroom READ!

  2. Make a Venn Diagram comparing and contrasting Low Pressure Systems and High Pressure Systems Warm-up

  3. Develop in warm tropical regions. • Water is at least 80 degrees • Require moist warm air and equatorial winds Hurricanes!

  4. Many begin as a cluster of thunderstorms. • They release latent heat which causes the pressure to drop and winds to get stronger! Hurricanes!

  5. 1.Tropical depression: wind speeds of less than 38 mph • 2.Tropical storm: wind speeds of 39 to 73 mph • 3.Hurricane: wind speeds greater than 74 mph Lifecycle of a hurricane

  6. Hurricane Structure

  7. Eye: calm region that spans 20-40 miles across • Eyewall: dense winds that contain the highest winds of the storm! • Rainband: dense band of thunderstorms-up to 300 miles long! Hurricane Structure

  8. You are now part of a committee preparing for the arrival of a Hurricane . • You in your partner will read the text about the hurricanes. You will answer questions about each of the selected text • It will be collected at the end of the period. Preparing for a Hurricane
