SnacksWe only have 15 minutes! Please give your child one snack for the morning rather than a choice.Afternoon snack is fruit and/or something we have made e.g soup, biscuits. (Tuesday is our baking day)Friday – special snack e.g. crackers or crumpets. Children to use a knife and spread their own butter.Milk is offered at morning and afternoon play.Water ONLY in water bottles please!
Getting on and falling out!Learning how to get along with each other is vital!Around age 4 or 5 boys get a burst of testosterone which can make them rather full of energy!This is a good read. Thereis a book for girls too!

Reading in Reception Picture books Wordless books Books with simple words that can be ‘fredded’ e.g. Sid nips in. Key ring with high frequency words. New words added weekly. Books with a mixture of high frequency words and words that can ‘fredded’ e.g. The man was sad. Reading – a little, often, lots of praise!
Teaching Reading in school • Phonics is everyday (Read Write Inc) • Reading as part of daily RWI lesson. • Guided reading groups heard once a week and grouped on similar ability (max 6 in a group) • Guided reading groups will be up and running after half term. • Individual reading as and when.
Tasks at home • Home/school planners. • Book to share at home. • Reading book (when they are ready). • High frequency word key ring. • Purple Mash. • Read Write Inc. phonic activities. • Maths activities – challenge cards.
