Presentation Option: • Proclamation of 1763 • King George III of England • No colonists may settle west of the Appalachian Mountains • Indian Territory • If colonists already lived there, they must move!

Battles of Lexington and Concord • British marched to Lexington to capture Sam Adams and John Hancock (Sons of Liberty leaders) • British marched to Concord to capture minutemen weapons • Paul Revere road the countryside warning minutemen of the British secret mission • Lexington- “Shot Heard Round the World”
Colonists reaction to Lexington and Concord • Second Continental Congress- met in Philadelphia again to create a more organized colonial government • George Washington, Ben Franklin, John Hancock, Sam Adams, Thomas Jefferson • Continental Army- George Washington- commander
