  2. Artwork I am Critiquing Walk In My Shoes, Nina W., Picture, 2013

  3. Description • What can you learn from the title of the artwork? 1. Different Life, Different story… Don’t Judge 2. What subjects in the artwork can you recognize? 1. Until you know my story, who are you to judge me Looking at the elements of design, describe what qualities you see: -line: There is an invisible line separating the 4 pictures -shape: 4 rectangular pictures put into one -color: Green, blue, orange, grey -value: 4 shades of different colors; green, blue, orange, grey -form: Rectangles squeezed together, shapes -texture: Smooth from the touch of the picture -space: All room is used in this piece of art 4. What media and techniques did the artist use? 1. The artist used a camera to capture the art and then came up with the phrase “Walk in my shows before you pick on them.”

  4. Analysis • Emphasis: Someone walking down the hall in shoes, because she's the purpose of the picture. • Balance: The mood of sympathy or relatable and the weight is the person in the hall. • Proportion: Normal because in the picture it’s a normal surrounding. • Pattern: Yes, the pattern is the repeat of the pictures squished into one. • Rhythm or Movement: Everything falls into place perfectly, you get the point across. • Unity and variety: Everything comes together because it stands out with the 4 different colors and the message behind the image.

  5. Interpretation • Is there symbolism in the artwork? What do you think it means? To me this means, you see the outside of me but you don't the inside. • What feeling do you think the artist wanted to give the viewer when looking at the work? Next time you see someone just know there's more than just looks to someone. • Does the work remind you of other things you have experienced? Yes, for example when I first came to this school being new was hard, so I had to fit in right away. • How does the work relate to other ideas or events in the world and/or in your other classes? Bullying is world wide no matter just your hair from your shoes there is always going to be that negative person but if we stand a one to be positive there won’t be a problem.

  6. Judgment • What parts of the work make you feel it is a success or failure? It makes me feel successful because I can be a bigger person now. • What criteria (think of the style of the work) can you list to help others judge this work? Look at the meaning and how it can make you a better person. • How unique is the work? Why do you feel this work is or isn’t unique? This is unique work because it is inspiring. • What are some improvements you feel the artist could have made to the work? Nothing because just as well as we all know resolving bullying would be a miracle.
