  2. What is the Qur’an?

  3. Why is the Qur’an Important? • "Surely this Quran guides to that which is most upright and gives good news to the believers who do good that they shall have a great reward." Surah Al Israa’: 9

  4. WHY IS THE Qur’an Important? • From Abdullah ibnAmr that the Prophet (sas) said:  It will be said to the person of the Qur'an, "Read and ascend and recite as you used to recite in the world for your level is at the last verse which you read."

  5. Why is the qur’an important? • “Whoever reads a letter from the Allah’s Book, he will be rewarded for it. And that reward will be multiplied by ten. I am not saying that “alif, laam, meem” is one letter, but “alif” is a letter, “laam” is a letter and “meem” is a letter.” (At-Tirmithi)

  6. Why is the Qur’an a miracle? • "No doubt we have sent down the Qur’an and surely we will guard it (from corruption)" Qur'an, Al Hijr:9

  7. Etiquettes with the Qur’an • "The best amongst you are those who learn the Quraan & teach it to others". [Bukhari]

  8. Etiquettes with the Qur’an • Sincere Intention • “So worship Allaah (Alone) by doing religious deeds sincerely for Allaah’s sake only. Surely, the religion (i.e. the worship and the obedience) is for Allaah only” [al-Zumar 39:2-3].

  9. Etiquettes with the qur’an • Be Clean • When touching Qur’an, have wudhu, use miswak or brush your teeth if possible • Keep the Qur’an in a clean place. • Don’t recite Qur’an in the bathroom.

  10. Etiquettes with the qur’an • Before reading, seek refuge from Shaytaan. • So when you want to recite the Qur'ân, seek refuge with Allâh from Satan, the outcast . (An-Nahl 16:98) • Preferred to recite Bismillah before beginning a new surah.

  11. Etiquettes with the QuR’an • Reciting in beautiful voice • The Prophet salAllahualayhiwasalamsaid, “Beautify the Quran with your voices.”

Etiquettes with the Qur’an • You can read Qur’an at any time of day. • After fajr has the most blessings. • You can recite in any position (sitting, laying down on your side, standing, walking) • “Those who remember Allâh standing, sitting, and lying down on their sides...” (Aali Imran 3:191)

  13. Etiquettes WITH the qur’an • Be quiet when you hear the Qur’an being recited or played. • "And if the Quran is recited, you should listen to it and be silent, that you may receive mercy.“ [Qur’an, Al-Aaraf:204]

  14. Etiquettes WITH the qur’an • No fighting while learning or reading Qur’an! • Avoid talking unnecessarily when reading or reciting Qur’an, unless you’re discussing it.

Etiquettes with the Qur’an • Manners with Qur’an Teachers • Respect and listen to your Qur’an teacher. • Sit nicely in front of him or her. • If you are late for Qur’an class, enter class quietly and sit down in the closest open space so as not to disturb other students or break your teacher’s concentration.

  17. Etiquettes with the Qur’an • Start when you’re young! • “Learning by heart when one is young is like carving something on stone; learning something when one is old is like carving something on water.”
