Objectives and Tasks of NGN-WG • Objectives • Cooperation among CJK to promote and reflect the studies on NGN requirements and solutions to the relevant International NGN standardization activities • Tasks • Collect and exchange industry/standard information on NGN-related activities of each country, • Identify key standard areas to provide end-to-end multimedia services over future NGN, • Pursue maximum commonality of NGN-related standards, • Confirm interconnectivity and interoperability of NGN through interoperability tests among interested parties • Phased approach will be taken from the top to the bottom of above items.
Working method; Two level meetings • Working group meeting • High level standard direction and selected major technical issues are discussed to promote the CJK collaboration • The meeting is expected to be held as much as possible in conjunction with the CJK meeting. Additional WG meetings can be held with permission by the CJK plenary • The progress report will be made at the CJK plenary • Ad hoc meeting by technical experts • Key specific technical issues are discussed among technical experts who participate in the relevant ITU-T meeting • The meeting is held in the previous day of each NGN-related ITU-T meeting to share the standards views among the CJK members to lead the discussion • Also meet in the middle of each ITU-T NGN-GSI meeting if necessary to resolve any critical issues among CJK

Key achievement of NGN-WG • Agreement on the objectives of NGN-WG • Agreement on the key tasks of NGN-WG • Agreement on the organizational procedure of NGN-WG such as working method, rules for participants and contributions, guidelines of meeting host and publication • Agreement on the setup of a new task group on NGN-Testbed and Phase 1 testing is completed • Agreement on the setup of IPTV ad-hoc group and collaboration for co-authoring relevant contributions to FG IPTV meetings • Agreement on CJK-NGN Ad-hoc meetings held before the ITU-T NGN-GSI meetings and Review of CJK contributions to NGN-GSImeetings and collaboration activities to support critical ones • Agreement on collaboration for NGN Release 2 activities such as NGN R2 Requirements, Multicast, Mobility issues for NGN R2

CJK contribution to NGN Global Standards • NGN standard activities were initiated by Europeans • But it was not enough to make global notification • CJK involved in this area since the 1st JRG-NGN meeting at Munich, October 2003 • After joining CJK in ITU-T based activitiesincluding various Workshops, NGN standards became global issue • Especially FG NGN group was launched at June 2004 based on the agreements which made at Beijing April 2004 among ITU-T Europe, North America and Asian Key members • Since the launching of FG NGN, CJK members have become most important members with enormous contributions • Recently CJK played a critical role to launch FG IPTV and is actively leading and contributing the activity • In summary, CJK now has a key leading role for the global NGN standards
NGN Test-bed Task group in NGN-WG • Key objectives of NGN-testbed • - Building a common NGN technology testing infrastructure • - Feasibility testing prior to NGN commercial deployment • - Interoperability testing for NGN components • - Providing NGN service development platform for inter- • country issues • - Cooperation with other international NGN related testbeds • The CJK meeting endorsed on the launch of the NGN-testbed task group and high-level support for the testbed project • Dr. Taesang Choi (TTA) was nominated to the NGN-testbed task leader • Test-bed networks between Korea and China was first established in October 2006 • The first test to be performed is VoIP & MoIP over Call Server networks • Phase I test was successfully completed in March 2007 between Korea (ETRI) and China(CATR) • Phase II & III activities will be continued
Future meeting plan NGN-WG requests the CJK meeting to endorse the following meetings as the NGN-WG activities. • Ad hoc meeting at ITU-T NGN-GSI on Sunday, April 15 in Geneva • 10thNGN-WG meeting, Venue is TBD • 11th NGN-WG meeting, Venue is TBD
Conclusions • NGN-WG agreed the objectives, the tasks and the organizational procedure of the WG • CJK-NGN members contribute to the NGN global standards activities in the NGN-GSI, SG11, and SG13 meetings and play a key role of the standards activities • NGN-WG agreed to setup a new ad-hoc group on IPTV in NGN-WG and request strong support from the CJK members • NGN-WG proposed future Ad hoc meeting and NGN-WG meeting plans before the next CJK meeting in 2008
