High Expectations At Home • Home Learning standard should be the same as each child’s class work standard. • Reading – at least 4 times a week (10-15mins) • Numeracy – written and mental practice • Literacy or cross curricular based • Weekly spellings • Each piece of Numeracy and Literacy homework should take between 20-30 minutes. (if it is taking longer, please let your class teacher know)
Topics to be covered • Term 1 – Tudors (Image) • Term 2 – Tudors (Place) • Term 3 – Caribbean Music (Film) • Term 4 – Caribbean Geography (Artefact) • Term 5 – Ancient Greeks (Music) • Term 6 - Ancient Greeks (Place)
Timetable • Literacy (Reading & Writing) and Numeracy in mornings • ICT, RE, Science and other subjects in the afternoon • More focus on Literacy and Numeracy this to help children achieve Level 4 or higher before the secondary transfer
Numeracy setting • Based on ability • Not necessarily year group specific • Helps them move on at their own level (more focused teaching at their level) • Flexible – children may move between sets
Literacy • In own classes • Helps teachers to reinforce objectives taught in the morning so children can consolidate skills in pm • More focus on grammar and spelling this year due to changes in KS2 SATs
Progress • Every child to make 2 sub levels progress each year • Children that are further behind to attend intervention groups (additional support in Numeracy and Literacy) • Interventions during assembly time and afternoon lesson time to help children make the age expected progress • Some teacher led, some teaching assistant led.
Targets • Every term (6 times a year) • Literacy and Numeracy • Personalises learning for every child • Next steps of learning to help children progress to the next level • Sent home with children each term
P.E • Kit indoor and outdoor • T-shirt (house colour plain round neck shirt) • Black shorts • Trainers or plimsolls • Tracksuit bottoms • Tracksuit top • No jewellery • Letter from parent if unable to participate

SATs • It has been confirmed that the 2012 KS2 SATs will be held in the week beginning 13th May 2013. • Year 5 assessment during that week and if necessary the following week.
