GLOVE • We are seeking ourselves as a permanent student organization on campus through student activities • We are going through all necessary steps to become an officially recognized student organization. • We are striving to raise ~$175,000 for the establishment of an endowment to send future generations of GLOVE participants on free medical service trips. • The annual payout for this amount is $10,000 • We can send 5 student per year

Visa Requirements • A visa is not required for a stay of up to 90 days. • Traveler must be in possession of: • a passport valid for 6 months beyond stay • a round-trip airline ticket.
Passport • It is the applicants responsibility to be in possession of a current, valid passport and the funds required to procure it. • A copy of the original, signed must be sent in with all required documents for the application. • It is the responsibility of the individual to pay for passport renewal or procurement
Vaccinations • Consult your local travel doctor about the requirements for vaccines in Guatemala • Information: http://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel/destinations/traveler/none/guatemala#vaccines-and-medicines • Do this 3 months prior to trip departure • Some vaccines require a series of shots/doses • Scheduled timeliness is paramount • Provide a copy of your yellow book (vaccine’s administered) to GLOVE program • Must be turned in two weeks prior to travel date • Deadline: July 27th, 2014 • It is the responsibility of the individual to pay for all vaccines
Traveler's Insurance • Please refer to the Study Abroad Office website to ensure you receive sufficient international insurance. • It is the responsibility of the participant to purchase proper international travelers’ insurance. • The cost is very affordable
A Broader View • Non-profit organization which facilitates GLOVE’s medical service trip • Duration: 2 weeks • Cost: • Spanish Speaker$1,700 • Non-Spanish Speaker $2,000
Program Dates/Details • We will be leaving from the US on August 10th • Flight: United 1500 from Houston(9:15am)Guatemala City (11:10am) • We will arriving back to the US on August 24th • Flight: United 1504 from Guatemala City(2:06pm)Houston(6:06pm) • Bus transportation will take participants to and fro Guatemala City to Xela
Program Details • Program Schedule • Program starts and ends in Guatemala City • Airport meet and greet in Guatemala City. • Monday to Friday volunteering. 35-40 hours per week • Weekends free to sightseeing • Typical shift work can be: 7:00am - 4:30pm with lunch break • Support: Local ABV Director support 24/7 during placement • Departure: Transfer to Guatemala City airport

Things to Consider • While GLOVE is striving to provide Texas A&M students with a free medical service experience, we are a new organization, therefore we may not be able to provide you all with the funds to travel abroad. We will strive to acquire funding for your experience. There is a probability of having GLOVE members pay for the whole monetary bill. If you are fully committed to going (financially, physically and mentally) we encourage you to help GLOVE find financial resources in order to provide sustainable funding for future generations of GLOVE participants.
Dates to Remember • All application documents (picture,FAFSA,etc) are due April 27th • Those to be interview will be informed on May 4th (Sunday) • Interviews will occur May 9th (Friday) • Announcement of Participants on May 12th (Monday) • $120 deposit due to ABV on May 27th • Final payment to ABV due June 25th
