The Missing Glove By: Kristi N.
One day Lindsey F, a cashier at Croppers Supermarket happened to notice a pair of gloves for sale were missing. She went to tell her manager, Skylar. Skylar said she was very disappointed because the gloves cost $16.50. Lindsey decided to deal with the situation tomorrow.
The next day, Lindsey noticed her customer Kieran, who was also a good friend of hers, was wearing only one working glove. It looked almost exactly like the one that was stolen. Lindsey asked Kieran where he got the glove and he said, “It used to be my dad’s but I lost the other glove”.
When Kieran left, I walked into the store. My name is Amy Hartella. I’m a kid detective. I told Lindsey that I know what happened and I asked her if I could help her. So she said we could talk about it over lunch.
When I arrived for lunch later that afternoon, we played cards as we ate lunch. That was when the talking started. Lindsey started asking random questions like, “Do you know Kieran and where was he at the time of the crime?” I ended up answering all the questions.
Lindsey thanked me, but just before I left her house I told her that Kieran was a good friend of mine and I know he wouldn’t steal anything.
The next day I went to Croppers and I saw Samantha (another friend of mine) wearing only one working glove just like Kieran’s. That’s when it got fishy.
The only information I had at the time was that the only two suspects were Kieran and Sam. They both were wearing the same working glove just like the one in Croppers.
But Kieran was wearing his glove before the crime and Sam was wearing hers two days after the crime. So I invited Lindsey, Sam, and Kieran for dinner. Everyone came on time except for Sam.
About twenty minutes later Sam arrived. I asked her why she was late and she said she was at work.
I asked Sam where she got the working glove and she said at Croppers. Kieran didn’t know where he got his glove because it used to be his dad’s.
I asked Sam if she paid for the glove and she said yes but she just didn’t give the money to the cashier. She just put the money on the shelf between the band aids and the mint gum, because the cashier was busy and Sam had to go to her mother’s birthday party.
And that answered the whole mystery, Sam didn’t steal the glove, she just put the money in the store for the cashier to find.
