When the first Olympics happened? • The first Olympics happened in Ancient Greece. • The first Olympics had happened in Ancient Greece because the Greeks made the Olympic Games. • The very first Olympic Games happened in 771 B.C.
What were the main games of the Olympics in Ancient Greece? • Wrestling was one of the main Olympic games. This went that you could only do one hit at a time and if you messed up you would get hit by a stick. • Another one of the Olympic games was the 100 meter run footrace. • The last main event was the Discus throw. This is when a guy gets a 10 pound disc and try's to throw it as far as he can.
Prizes in Ancient Greece! • In Ancient Greece if you one you felt splendid and had immortal fame. • In Ancient Greece when or if you won you would not go to an amateur level festival, you got to go to the pro one. • Immediately after an athlete won his event, the herald would announce his name, father's name, and city of origin to the crowd. • He was given a palm branch and adorned with red woolen ribbons around his head.
What are the main Olympic Games today in the U.S. • There are many Olympic Games but there are four of them that are very important. • 1.) 400 meter footrace • 2.) Swimming • 3.) Cycling • 4.) Soccer
How did the Greeks and the modern day Olympic players train? • In Greece the competitors were forced to train and trained harshly. (Ancient) • In wrestling if you did an illegal move you would be wiped with a stick. • In Modern days we are still forced to train hard but not harshly. • Also in wrestling if you mess up and do an illegal move all that happens is that you get disqualified.
Prizes of the modern day Olympics. • If you win the Olympics in modern day times you can win a gold, silver, or bronze medals. • But you could pretty much choose to get money by trading the medal in or keeping it. • The U.S.A. pays the lowest amount of money for cash prizes . (This around 50K) • This year in London for a Gold Medal you could take 1 million dollars.
