Definition of Title I • The federal government provides Title 1, Part A funding to schools to help students who are low achieving or most at-risk of falling behind. • Title I is allocated to schools based on the percentage of students receiving free/reduced lunch. • Schools with a percentage of at least 40% are eligible for a school-wide Title 1 program. (RJW, Kubacak, SFJH)
Title 1 School-Wide • The school uses Title I funds to upgrade the entire educational program of the school. • Title I funds are used to serve all children in order to raise academic achievement. • Title I funds must be used to provide additional assistance to students who experience difficulties in meeting the State’s performance targets.
Title 1 School-Wide Requirements • The school must conduct a comprehensive needs assessment (CNA.) • STAAR, survey, attendance, discipline • The school must develop a comprehensive campus improvement plan (CIP), based on the comprehensive needs assessment (CNA), and annually review the effectiveness of the plan. • Campus Improvement Team (Site Based Decision Making Committee) - participation in the CNA and the CIP *Contact the campus Principal if interested in participating

Parent/Teacher Compacts • A Campus Compact is an agreement that parents and teachers develop together. RJW Parent Engagement Policy At RJ Wollam, we believe in a strong partnership between parents and teachers to maximize student achievement. Parent engagement means the participation of parents in regular, two-way, and meaningful communication involving student academic learning and other school activities. Kubacak Parent Engagement Policy Our mission is to create a caring, positive, and collaborative environment that empowers all learners to succeed in becoming productive, responsible, critical thinkers within a global community. At Kubacak Elementary, we believe in a strong partnership between parents and teachers to maximize student achievement. Parent engagement means the participation of parents in regular, two-way, and meaningful communication involving student learning and other school activities. At Santa Fe Junior High, we believe in a strong partnership between parents and teachers to maximize student achievement. High School Parent Engagement Policy Our Mission at Santa Fe High School is: Through a positive, supportive environment, SFHS will promote student achievement by developing a community of critical, creative thinkers. Students will graduate from SFHS prepared to learn in their chosen life paths and to become responsible, productive citizens. At Santa Fe High School, we believe in a strong partnership between parents and teachers to maximize student achievement. Student Success Initiative • A student may only advance to the next grade level only by passing the 5th and 8th grade Math and Reading STAAR tests • Students have three opportunities to pass both Reading and Math • If a student does not pass one or both tests, the school must give the student additional instruction after each testing opportunity • If a student has not passed after the second opportunity, a grade placement committee is formed and an instructional plan will be created based on the needs of the student. • The goal of the SSI is to ensure that all students receive the instruction and support they need to be academically successful in reading and mathematics.

Right to Request Meetings • Upon the request of parents, the school must provide opportunities for regular meetings for parents to formulate suggestions and to participate, as appropriate, in decisions about the education of their children. • The school must respond to any such suggestions as soon as practicably possible.
