Definition of Title I • The federal government provides Title 1, Part A funding to schools to help students who are low achieving or most at-risk of falling behind. • Title I is allocated to schools based on the percentage of students receiving free/reduced lunch. • Schools with a percentage of at least 40% are eligible for a school-wide Title 1 program. (RJW, Kubacak, SFJH)

4. Title 1 School-Wide • The school uses Title I funds to upgrade the entire educational program of the school. • Title I funds are used to serve all children in order to raise academic achievement. • Title I funds must be used to provide additional assistance to students who experience difficulties in meeting the State’s performance targets.

5. Title 1 School-Wide Requirements • The school must conduct a comprehensive needs assessment (CNA.) • STAAR, survey, attendance, discipline • The school must develop a comprehensive campus improvement plan (CIP), based on the comprehensive needs assessment (CNA), and annually review the effectiveness of the plan. • Campus Improvement Team (Site Based Decision Making Committee) - participation in the CNA and the CIP *Contact the campus Principal if interested in participating

Student Success Initiative • A student may only advance to the next grade level only by passing the 5th and 8th grade Math and Reading STAAR tests • Students have three opportunities to pass both Reading and Math • If a student does not pass one or both tests, the school must give the student additional instruction after each testing opportunity • If a student has not passed after the second opportunity, a grade placement committee is formed and an instructional plan will be created based on the needs of the student. • The goal of the SSI is to ensure that all students receive the instruction and support they need to be academically successful in reading and mathematics.
