Title I Parent Meeting PowerPoint What is Title I? Attachment 4 Title I is a K-12 program that provides additional academic support and learning opportunities for students at schools with high percentages of socioeconomically disadvantaged children The program is intended to help ensure that all students meet state academic standards.

Title I Parent Meeting PowerPoint Parent Involvement Attachment 4 The School Site Council (SSC) provides parents with an opportunity to be involved in the academic program of the school. The SSC develops, monitors, and evaluates the Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA) to implement programs and services that support students.

Title I Parent Meeting PowerPoint Single Plan for Students Achievement or SPSA Attachment 4 • Parents are informed about the school’s curriculum in English/ Language Arts and Math, as well as other core subjects. • Parents also receive information about the assessments used to measure student progress in these academic areas.
Title I Parent Meeting PowerPoint Single Plan for Student Achievement Attachment 4 Title 1 funding for the 2013-2014 school year will provide additional academic support for English Language Learners, through the purchase of an ELST (English Language Support Teacher). De Portola’s ELST will push into core classes supporting English Learners with grade level material. English Learners in grades 7/8 will also take an additional course, taught by our ELST, in which they will receive targeted language instruction.
Single Plan for Student Achievement We are creating a literacy class for Spanish speakers that will focus on teaching literacy skills using their home language. Students will get instruction in soc. studies and science as well as work on reading and writing skills in English. The ELST will also provide pull out support for 6th grade and non-Spanish speaking EL students (Tier 3 support). All EL students and 90% of the special education students will be in GATE classes for English and social studies for 6th and 7th grade (Tier 1 support). We will also use the Rosetta Stone program for additional support with technology.

The Parent Involvement Policy describes how the school will involve the parents in an organized, ongoing, and timely way the planning, review, and improvement of the Title I program at their school.
