  6. So, what we are not ? • A classic activities area • A shelter for scientists like science Park • A shelter for environmental NGO

  7. We are a technopole : and our aims is to establish on our territory : companies, laboratories, clusters, professional and academic formation, Business incubator centre To gather these structures and develop environmental R&D projects

  8. Our Technopôle is : • A territory • Offering 310,000 m² TNFA on 3 areas • - Petit Arbois : 75 ha • - Domaine Gare TGV : 60 ha • Domaine Tourillon : 90 ha • Today, around 50,000 m² TNFA • have been developed

  9. 2. Stakeholders which work on environmental issues • 110 companies (AREVA renewable, Nhéolis, JUWI, éco-emballage, ...) • 30 start-ups (Sp3h, Safe Techno, Solarquest...) • 11 research laboratories (CEREGE, INRA, INERIS, Collège de France, ...) • Aix-Marseille university (Master SET, ED SE) • 1 engineering school (Cési Méditerranée) • 1 business incubator (CEEI) • 4 competitive clusters (Risk management and Trimatec, Pégase, Eau) • 5 PRIDES (regional clusters including éa and BDM)

  10. Some Technopôle’s companies • HELION, fuel cell projects • Solar Quest, Sun tree for electric cars • SP3H, fuel profiling • NHEOLIS, 3D wind turbine • JUWI, photovoltaic farm

  11. Some Technopôle’s laboratories • CEREGE : Geosciences and the Environment • The Collège de France : Science of the Earth, Ocean and Environment branch • INRA : Geochemistry of soil and water research unit • INERIS : Risk, waste management and recycling • LM2P2 : Modelling and Clean Processes • AD2M : Environmental chemistry • ...

  12. Technopôle’s technological platforms • ASTERisks • ASTER, a mass spectrometer for particle acceleration, detects nuclei produced by the interaction of cosmic rays and terrestrial rays. • The accelerator is in a special 800 m² building. • Seismic movements • Soil erosion • Global warming • Carbon dating • ARDEVIE platform • Platform for studying the recycling of industrial waste. Developed by INERIS, certified by the competitive cluster, this platform has been operational since May 2007. • Characterisation of waste • Definition of their polluting risks • Recycling study

  13. Technopôle’s Business incubator centre • The European Centre for Businesses and Innovation (CEEI) creates a process through the development and confirmation of links, agreements and partnerships with other innovative organisations, businesses and players. • 32 start-ups are currently being supported: • 20% Pôle Tic (ICT cluster) • 45% Pôle Environnement (environment cluster) • 35% Pôle Conseil (advisory cluster)

  15. 3. A thematic : For us environment means 3 fields: And to establish your organization on our Technopôle, you have to work at list on one of these subjects Renewable energy and sustainable building Waste and water pollution Safety assessment and Risk management

  16. 4. A green building site : Testing new technologies on a small scale… Extension of the Bâtiment de l’Horloge (Clock Building) The inter-company restaurant and its heat pump-powered heating The photovoltaic glass roof The Lavoisier building

  17. 4. A green building site: … before the launch of exemplary architectural projects The Technology Platform, a low consumption building Photovoltaic glass roof, thermal-controlled patios, efficient building exterior... are all technical solutions meeting Europôle’s demands. The Technology Platform is part of 100 exemplary buildings within the scope of the AGIR (Global innovative action for the region) programme Company stopover By the end of 2010, several start-ups emerging from the business incubator and waiting to take off will be able to set up in these multi-purpose buildings. Built on stilts, these buildings fit perfectly into the site.
