  2. Main industrial processed food products • Cereals derivatives (flower, bread, pasta) • Oil related (olive oil, olives) • Milk derivatives (milk, yoghurt, cheese) • Canning food (tomatoes, fruits, fish) • Sugar derivatives • Beverages (alcoholic and non alcoholic) Tunisia1

  3. Work Force • 73,000 permanent jobs, 140,000 indirect. • Education: 1 specialised school, 3 schools offering food technology as an option. • Nº of graduates: 30 engineers, 100 technicians per year. • Job market: absorbing and extending. Tunisia1

  4. Agro-industry main indicators • 3.5% of GIP, 20% added value, 11% growth rate • 4,750 companies (90 totally exporting) ... mostly PMEs • Partnership with European companies • Total production: 2,500 million Euro Tunisia1

  5. Major technological strength/ weaknesses • Existence of strategic national food products (dates, olive oil, seafood, citrus) • Abundance of human resources with higher education and relatively low cost • Lack of diversification of processed food • Small targeted consumer pool Tunisia1
