  1. How is Earth’s surface shaped and reshaped. By Sunhu Choi #7 Room 27 Earthquake damage Water carved this rock

  2. Chemical Weathering • Oxygen, carbon dioxide, and water mix together to make chemical weathering • Water and temperature helps make chemical weathering ex: The Cleopatra’s Needle started weathering in Egypt. Later on, the Needle was moved to England, and the acid in the air wore away the markings. Rock weathered by acid rain Acid carves the rock

  3. Physical Weathering • Physical weathering breaks rocks into smaller pieces. Plants water, and ice make it. • Plants can grow cracks in the rocks. Their roots break them into smaller piece. • Glaciers move rock which scrapes along the ground, making it smooth Mountain broken up by ice. Rock grounded by ice

  4. Erosion • Erosion is the movement of weathered materials • Wind, water, glaciers living things, and gravity all cause erosion Ex: Water pushes the weathered rocks to other places. As water moves, rock falls. The rocks pile up and form new islands Grand Canyon rock carved from water Valley carved by water with gravel and small rock

  5. Volcanoes • Volcanoes that have not erupted for a long time is said to be dormant, which means they are not able to erupt again • Active volcanoes show signs of their future eruption • When volcanoes erupt, many causes from them effect the landform Volcano erupting

  6. Earthquakes • Faults are breaks or cracks in rock where Earth can move • Earthquakes are sudden movements that cause Earth’s surface to shake • Waves from earthquakes crack Earth’s surface Ex: A deadly earthquake destroyed most of San Francisco in the old days Crack from waves Road crack

  7. Match together • Volcano 5. Chemical Weathering • Erosion • Earthquake • Physical Weathering
