  8. Congressional Update • VPP bills introduced in both houses of Congress on April 13, 2011. • The legislation would codify VPP and improve access for small businesses. • Sens. Michael Enzi (R. Wyo.) and Mary Landrieu (D-La.) introduced the Voluntary Protection Program Act (S. 807) in the Senate. • Reps. Tom Petri (R-Wis.) and Gene Green (D-Texas) introduced H.R. 1511 in the House.

  10. FY12 Budget President’s proposed budget • Increases funding for OSHA’s federal compliance assistance programs OSHA’s proposed budget • Increases funding for VPP over 2010 levels • Sets goal of 100 new VPP site approvals (in addition to state-plans)

  11. VPP Funding “We are no longer proposing alternative funding for the Voluntary Protection Programs (VPP). OSHA will continue to fund VPP out of the federal compliance assistance budget activity.” -Assistant Secretary of Labor Dr. David Michaels
