  3. Building HMI Applications in Visual Studio .NET Your Host Today: Mike Smith, Development Tools Product Manager

  4. Building HMI Applications in Visual Studio .NET Agenda – 1 Hour • Reading / Writing PLC data using runtime free components • Displaying animated graphics using the Symbol Factory .NET library of 3600 industrial objects • Read data from OPC data sources • Trending data • Sending plotted data to a log file • Summary • Discussion, Questions & Answers

  5. What are the Requirements? • Visual Studio .NET (2005 is used in this example). You can use C# or VB. • Components to communicate to your PLC. • Connecting directly to the PLC using the INGEAR.NET family of components. • Connecting to an OPC Server using the OPC Extender component. • EMD Virtual Keyboard for keyboard-less applications • Symbol Factory .NET to supply you with over 3,600 industrial symbols – each that can be animated. • Plot Pack .NET to display your trend data and to log the data. Visual Studio to 1-N Devices

  6. INGEAR.NET Components for Visual Studio.NET • Supported on both Visual Studio 2003 and 2005 • Makes DIRECT connections to the PLC. • Components available to connect to Allen-Bradley and GE Fanuc PLCs via Ethernet. • Easy to use. • No point count limits or other artificial limits.

  7. OPC Extender.NET • Supported in Visual Studio 2003, 2005, and 2008. • Turn any .NET component into an OPC Client without writing any code. • Connects to any OPC Server (TOPServer, OmniServer, INGEAR, Kepware, Matrikon, etc.), which in turn talks to your PLC.

  8. EMD Virtual Keyboard .NET • Supported in Visual Studio 2005 • Set of on-screen keyboard components perfect for: • Industrial Operator/Machine Interfaces • Point of Sale applications • Information Kiosks • Multilingual keyboards • Easy to implement, easy to deploy

  9. Symbol Factory .NET • Supported in Visual Studio 2003, 2005, and 2008. • Over 3,600 industrial graphics that can be animated. • Each graphic is a vector graphic – meaning it can scale up and down in size without loss in image quality. • Free tank cutaway control for showing tank fills. • Unlimited number of instances on a form.

  10. Plot Pack .NET • Supported in Visual Studio 2003 and 2005. • Real-time plotting component perfect for trending data or scatter diagrams. • Unlimited number of channels. Mix and match trending data from different sources for maximum visual effect. • Visual layout can be changed at both Design and Run time. • Log incoming data to a log file.
