Early History • 1897- Beginning of Zionist government • 1917- Britain wants Palestine for the Jews • May 1947- UN rejected partition • Nov. 1948- Israel declared a state • June 1967- Six-Day War • Jan. 1993- Oslo Peace • Sept. 1995- Oslo II Agreement • 2005- Israeli troops pulled from Gaza Strip

Current News • Main solution: "two-state solution" --> Palestinian and Israeli state • Issues: borders, citizenship, and the future of Jerusalem • Fighting between Hamas and Israel along the Gaza Strip • Hamas was firing from the Gaza Strip and they were hitting just outside of Jerusalem • Egypt helped negotiate a ceasefire and that both sides must stop all aggression towards one another
