WHEN IT SUNK? The boat sunk on the 17th of April 1832.The same year that Mr Spargo died. Mr & Mrs Spargo owned port Waikato camp. The port Waikato camp was their property & the second girls dorm was their house. Mr & Mrs Spargo.
How it became a shipwreck? Back in the 180o’s the Port Waikato river went through the sand dunes where Elizabeth and Mary’s boat was. At the time that was where the river and the ocean joined. One day when the boat was in the river a landslide came off the hill and covered the boat and blocked the river so it started to go a different way out to sea. Many years passed and you could still see the boat covered in sand but about 80 years ago it was covered and you can no longer see the boat.
How much its worth? The metal we found can be over $50 for a tiny piece and at least $150-$250 for a big piece so all together we would make just over $1,500 if we sold it all. If we gave the ship wreck pieces to a museum we would make a lot more.
THANKS FOR WATCHING BY COURTNEY & ZOE THE END!!!!!
